All Light Remembers Us
2025, Timo Nasseri

For Aldar’s inaugural artist commission, revealed at Abu Dhabi Art 2025, Timo Nasseri created a mirrored installation illuminated by an intricate neon constellation. Immersive and symbolic, the work united two central strands of Nasseri’s practice: speculative geometry and reflection, both optical and intellectual.

In All Light Remembers Us, these inquiries converged in a space where perception dissolves into reflective intersection: the environment retreats into itself, infinitely yet serenely. The work folded the viewer into a poetic (and unexpectedly intense) convergence of pattern, light, and repetition.

The installation extended Nasseri’s investigation into how systems of order—cosmological, ornamental, or numerical—give shape to our imagination. Light operates as both material and metaphor as he widens his mathematical universe to conceive symbols that are encoded yet never fully decipherable.

The immersive experience questioned the architecture of light and the act of viewing. The Western visual canon, which centres the subject, disappears into a classical Arabic, multi-perspective understanding, one in which light itself is the condition of all seeing. The viewer ceases to look at something, but rather looks through.

Commissioned by Aldar for Abu Dhabi Art 2025, curated by Alserkal Advisory, All Light Remembers Us encapsulates Aldar’s commitment to art as an experience, capable of transforming spaces in both the physical and digital worlds.
