brief
Emerging out of a desire to activate the museum throughout opening hours, Alserkal Advisory developed a series of rotating museum interventions that pop up temporarily around the museum’s campus.
RESPONSE
Re-interpreting permanent exhibitions
Initially proposed as a series of temporary exhibitions in the museum’s vacant exhibition hall, our evolved approach aims instead to bring fresh perspectives and dynamic engagement to the permanent exhibition through the concept of ‘exhibition annotations.’ On a biannual basis, creative practitioners are invited to interpret and respond to the permanent exhibition with creative ‘annotations,’ adding a layer of evolving insight. This approach offers museum-goers the opportunity to experience the permanent exhibition repeatedly, discovering new meanings and interpretations with each visit.
Crafting opportunities for interactivity
Designed to activate the museum space beyond scheduled events, a series of pop-up immersive spaces ensure that the museum remains a vibrant visitor experience even during quieter periods. While our public programme provided monthly engagement, these media rooms introduce contemporary, interactive installations that enrich the museum visit at any time. This initiative offers a continuous, evolving engagement for visitors, bringing a layer of accessibility and interaction to the museum’s offerings.
